Insulation Board Under Laminate Flooring

My desire is to create a warm subfloor over an existing concrete slab above grade as i live in a cold climate.

Techni board delivers exceptional thermal insulation 2 15 togs making it ideal for use on cold floors cellars etc. Therma foil insulation is extensively used with solid wood and laminate flooring suspended floors below carpet vinyl and linoleum reflecting heat back into the room at the same time improving air tightness by acting as a vapour barrier stopping airflow through drafty floorboards. While styrofoam is an excellent insulation material it is probably not rigid enough to be placed below the laminate flooring.

In addition the adhesive used to install the laminate flooring may not be compatible with styrofoam. If you re set on having insulation under your floor if you are set on having the warmth and insulation under your flooring we would suggest switching to laminate flooring. The main benefit of a thicker product is the warmth properties it has. We offer a wide selection of flooring underlay types for wood laminate and carpets.

But the hard laminate material doesn t lie directly onto that surface. Finally we suspect that an installation of this type would void any warranty that comes with the laminate flooring. It needs a layer of underlay or underlayment to cushion the laminate planks and ensure a comfortable durable finished floor. There is underlay for many different requirements such as fibre underlay for carpet to foam underlay which is suitable for wood laminate and carpet.
